Kristin's Wedding

It is wedding season around here!  Last weekend we traveled to Dallas again, but this time for Kristin and Jacob's wedding.  Kristin was one of my college roommates at Baylor.  It was fun to see many Baylor and Tri-Delta faces that I hadn't seen in awhile.  It was a beautiful wedding that made the love that Kristin and Jacob have for each other and the Lord evident.

We realized taking this picture that this was the first time in the 2 years since we graduated that all five of us have been together... crazy!  It was fun to be reunited.

Congratulations, Kristin and Jacob!

Shay Bear is Married!

Shay and Adam are now husband and wife!  Last weekend me, JW, and Har headed to Dallas for a weekend of celebration.  We arrived Friday afternoon just in time for Shay's bridal luncheon that her Aunt Laura hosted at their house.  Laura is also my mom's best friend who moved from Sugar Land to Dallas about a year ago.  I really enjoyed seeing her and their whole family over the weekend.

Me and the Beautiful Bride
I wore my peacock dress to the Bridal Luncheon in honor of Shay's peacock feather inspired wedding. :)

Shay gave us all cute aprons to thank us for being apart of her wedding party.

Friday night we attended the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at Maggianos.  Joey was an usher and I was a bridesmaid in the wedding.  We had never both been in a wedding together before, and enjoyed getting to be a part of all the festivities together.  The rehearsal dinner hosted by Adam's parents was a special time for people to toast the bride and groom.  Many funny and sentimental memories were shared that I know Shay and Adam will cherish forever.

(I know we took a picture- maybe on Shay's camera, so I will add it when I track it down.)

Saturday morning I went over to Shay's parents' house where Shay was having her hair and make up done.  It was a special time to help Shay prepare for her wedding day.  It made me reflect back on the day I got married and those hours of getting ready before heading to the church.  Those memories with my girlfriends are so sweet.  Shay was beautiful and so full of joy.  I was honored to be there to help keep her calm, make sure she ate lunch, and pack last minute things.  I also enjoyed getting to chat with her precious family.  Shay's parents are some of the sweetest people I know.

At the reception... let the party begin!

Joey, Me, Claire, Hunter, Dad, Mom, and Taylor
My whole family was there, and it was so fun to see them.  Of course a wedding reception with Hunter would not be complete without a circle of people around him cheering him on as he busts out dance moves that we have no clue where he learned.  He was a hit and may be going into the wedding entertainment business. :)

Rich, Megan, Me, and Joey
We stayed with Rich and Megan while we were in Dallas for the weekend.  Many of the guests at the wedding were members at their new chuch.  It was neat to see how much they are loved already by their church family.  Rich also had some dance moves that we had never seen, and he and Hunter had a pretty hillarious dance off.  I nearly peed my pants laughing so hard!

My hubby and I at the reception.  He's so handsome! :)

It was a great weekend of celebration that we were honored to be a part of.  Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Paulson!  We love you!

Belated Bachelorette Post

A couple of weekends ago the women in Shay's wedding party met in Salado for a Bachelorette Party for Shay Bear- the bride-to-be.  Salado is the perfect place for a girl trip, and we had a great time.  The celebration started Saturday at lunch time with an afternoon tea at Adelea’s on Main.  We had a private room and enjoyed tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and little desserts.  It was delicious!

After lunch we ventured out to visit all the cute shops on Main Street.  Triple digit heat made us appreciate the cool blast of air conditioning when we walked into a store for sure!  After shopping we headed to the Inn at Salado where we were staying that night to check in.  It was precious!  I shared a room with Mary Ellen and Gentry.  We didn't take a room-mate picture unfortunately, but had a good time together.

After some much needed freshening up, we loaded up and headed to the Vineyard at Florence winery for dinner and Shay's lingerie shower.  This was by far the highlight of the weekend!  We also had our own private room here where we enjoyed dinner, wine, and of course gifts that made Shay giggle.  I was in charge of games for the night, and a little worried about making Shay blush.  She was a hoot though, and totally got into it!  We all had a blast celebrating with Shay and certainly made memories that I will look back on and cherish.

Only a couple of short weeks left until Shay and Adam tie the knot!

Dallas Weekend

Last weekend there was a lot to celebrate in Dallas!  There were two wedding showers, and Joey and I had made plans to go stay with the Roush's in their new house.  Joey ended up having too much school work to be out of town, but Harley and I still drove up after work on Friday.  Harley and Tegan had so much fun together!  They hadn't seen each other since the move back in May, so it was cute to see them reunited.  They are still best girlfriends!

Harley kept sitting on top of Tegan while they were wrestling... It was the weirdest thing!  Megan looked it up and found out that dogs often do this when they are tired of playing but trying to show dominance.  Tegan has got Harley by about 40 pounds, but she sure tries to be the "big dog".

Friday night Rich and Meg ordered us Chinese food for dinner  (one of my favorites since there are really no good take-out Chinese places here), and then Meg and I went to Homegoods, for the first time of the weekend, to shop for accessories for their new house.

Saturday morning I attended a wedding shower being given in honor of one of my college room-mates, Kristin.  It was really fun to see her and Lauren, another college friend and room-mate.  It has been way too long since we spent time together, and it was wonderful to celebrate Kristin as the bride-to-be!  There were a lot of other Tri-Delta girl friends from college there too that I had a blast catching up with.  It will be fun to see them again at the wedding.  Kristin is going to be a beautiful bride!

Saturday afternoon I headed back to the Roush's, and Meg and I shopped a little more for accessories.  Saturday evening we were invited to a couple's shower for Shay and Adam.  I definitely missed having Joey there, but enjoyed getting to celebrate Shay and Adam with a lot of friends.  I have met and even become close to a lot of the people that mean a lot to Shay and her family over the years of us being friends, so it was fun to see many of them again.  Shay and Adam have a lot of fun together, and it was cute to watch them open presents as a couple.  Getting to see Shay twice in one weekend was pretty fun!

The girls and Adam

Who knew you were supposed to brush a dog's teeth?  Megan brushes Tegan's and it was pretty funny, so I snapped a few pictures.  Tegan loves it, so Harley wanted to try... she was not too fond of it!  It was pretty amusing to watch though. :)

Sunday morning I went to church with the Roush's and then Meg and I had brunch.  We stopped by Homegoods one more time for curtain rods and then went back to their house to hang them... only Rich was still at church.  We learned pretty quickly that hanging curtain rods is a good man project!  We finally figured out how to use Rich's electric screwdriver (maybe that's what it's called?) in time for the battery to die... and the Roush's don't know where the charger is.  So, we tried to drill the screws in by hand... Yeah right!  That was hard.  So, we ended up just marking where they needed to go and deciding to let Rich handle it when he got home.  It was a fun weekend getting to spend time with and celebrate exciting times with good friends.

An eventfull weekend

On Friday, Joey and I packed up and headed to north Houston for the wedding weekend of Bobby and Anya. Joey was honored to be one of his groomsmen. Bobby was Joey's room-mate his freshman year at The Cambridge and is one of his close friends from A&M. Bobby was in our wedding almost a year and a half ago, and we were excited to be a part of his special weekend.

Friday night was the rehearsal at their venue and Joey was enamored with the fresh smell of wood that the new building had. He sniffed the air like a dog for the first ten minutes we were there despite my warning him that he looked funny doing it.

Saturday morning we got to watch Joey's brother, Matthew, play in a golf tournament in Magnolia before all of the guys in the wedding party met up for some male bonding time. I dropped Joey off at Bobby's parents house in the afternoon and set out to find the to the closest Marshall's, Home Goods, or TJ Maxx. I was thrilled to find a TJ Maxx not far away and headed there to occupy my time while Joey was shooting his first gun at the skeet shoot the guys were doing. I had time to peruse the store and paint my nails in the car before picking him back up to go get ready for the rehearsal dinner. We had a great time at the rehearsal dinner that Bobby's parents hosted at their house. I always love the intimate setting of hearing stories and toasts from friends and family that are closest to the couple at the rehearsal dinner. It was definitely evident that night that Bobby and Anya are very loved and that everyone agreed they are the perfect complement to eachother.

Sunday is when we encountered the unexpected. Joey took our car to the venue to help setup for the wedding while I stayed home with our family that we were staying with. He came home after lunch to shower and had to be back up there at 3 p.m. for pictures. We decided I would take him and drop him off so that I could have the car to load up after I got ready since our plan was to leave right after the wedding to come home. So, I got ready, loaded all of our stuff in the car, and said my goodbye's to the family. About halfway to the wedding our car started with some strange antics. First, the radio turned off. Then, the air conditioning spasmed a bit and the check engine light turned on. Not long after that, the airbag light came on and the blinker changed its rhythm. Though I was laughing because the car suddenly had a mind of its own, I was begining to get a little scared. I had to slow down to let a car in front of me turn and had a hard time accelerating back up to speed as the line of cars behind me grew. I prayed I would make it to my destination and texted Joey asking if he could call me even though the wedding was to start in 30 minutes. He called and I told him about sudden downward spiral of his beloved "silver bullet". I did make it to the wedding, but the men of the wedding party predicted a dying alternator which would not make it our whole trip back to Waco. We called Joey's dad and told him we would be returning sooner than expected.

So, after the wedding our great friends Cory & Lauren helped us unload our car into theirs and they gave us a ride back to our family's house. Early the next morning, Joey and his dad went to get the car to take it in to the shop. But, after being jumped to start, the poor silver bullet did not make it even a mile before it puttered out again. Joey had it towed to a shop that confirmed that we needed a new alternator which they did have in stock and could install that day! Hooray! Our car was back to life and we were able to leave Houston around 4:00 on Monday. Thank goodness for Rich and Megan who picked up Harley from the kennel so we didn't have to board her an extra night and even invited us for dinner when we got back since we had hardly any food to speak of after being gone for four days. Other than our car's bad timing that left us stranded in Houston for an extra day, it was a great weekend of celebration with friends that we loved getting to see and catch up with!

Wedding Memories

Joey and I have said several times in the last year that we would love to do our wedding again. Not the planning and leading up to it- just the party. We had such an amazing time and made so many great memories getting married and celebrating with all of our closest friends and family. I mean how often do you have all those people that you love in the same room? It was such a cool thing! We are so grateful for all of the people that love and support us. We feel very blessed as we look back on that day and remember all the people that gave of time and resources to make our day special. So, as promised here are some pictures from our wedding a year ago! Sorry this post took me so long to get up... all our wedding pictures are on my computer that has been out of commission for a bit. It is back up and running though, so let's reminisce!
